Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic ready for the business end of the season on his return from injury

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has revealed that he is working harder to overcome the recent run of injuries which has hindered his impact at Stamford Bridge. The American was injured in last season’s FA Cup finals and therefore missed the opening exchanges of the current season and since then he has suffered a few knocks here and there.

The persistent concerns have not allowed Pulisic to flourish for the Blues but the 22-year-old has not left the fight as he has been very good in recent matches. He admitted that he was growing frustrated as he had to sit on the sidelines and was not able to help his teammates on the field.

“It definitely wasn’t easy for me. It’s been a tough year for a lot of reasons,” he said in Chelsea’s matchday programme.

“Obviously, having injuries has been tough because I’ve been doing everything I can to take care of my body and just try to be right for every game, and it does hurt when I can’t be out there to help the team.”

Thomas Tuchel’s men will travel to West Ham next for their important Premier League clash as both teams have the chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season. However, the biggest match, for now, will come after that as they face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi finals.

Pulisic expressed how he is happy to be back in action and how he loves the business end of the season. He also shared his experience of the Champions League from his childhood.

“Yes, I definitely love this part of the year when things get really important and every match can have a big influence on your standing at the end of the season,” he added.

“It’s the best time really when everyone focuses up and the games are usually really good. Growing up, I loved watching the Champions League, and I always wanted to play in it, so it feels surreal in a way.

“I remember watching all the Chelsea runs, including the year they won it, but just the competition, in general, is always the most exciting. I’m really looking forward to those games.

“It’s the best competition in the world and that’s what happens when you get the best teams and they’re fighting for that trophy, so it’s always really exciting – you can just feel the intensity when you are out there on the pitch,” Pulisic signed off.

The United States International has scored four goals in the Premier League till now and only netted once in the Champions League. Hence he will be eager to make a huge impact in their match against Los Blancos.
