NBA Analyst Shannon Sharpe feels Anthony Davis has not evolved after winning the Championship with the Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis is one of the most talented players in the NBA right now. He is often compared with many recent superstars but his main point of concern has been his persistent injury problems. Davis is excellent on both ends of the field and can dominate teams single handedly.

It has been a tough year for the Purple and Gold army as Anthony Davis got injured and the Lakers missed out on the playoffs despite LeBron James doing so well for them throughout the year. They only won 33 games last season and courtesy of the performance they fired their head coach Frank Vogel.

Davis, who is considered as one of the most important pieces in this Lakers team only featured in 40 matches out of a total of 82 games as he suffered with persistent injury problems. Although he has been great when healthy but the big man has failed to make that impact and therefore the Lakers missed out on the playoffs this season.

Right from 2012 when he was the No. 1 pick, Davis was always considered as one of the best young players. He made the All-Rookie team in his first year and then played even better in the second year averaging 20.8 points, 10 rebounds and lead the league in 2.8 blocks per match. He is considered as one of the best scorers and shot blockers in the league right now.

He was traded to the Lakers in 2019 and he made an immediate impact by winning the Championship  in the following year as he worked in tandem with LeBron James.

NBA Analyst Shannon Sharpe believes that Anthony Davis is easily one of the best players in the league when healthy but he also added how AD has stopped evolving and getting better after he has won the Championship with the Lakers. On “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed,” Sharpe said, “All of a sudden he got that ring, now he’s gonna be back to square one. It takes a special type of somebody to do what LeBron (James), to do what (Michael) Jordan, to do what Kobe (Bryant) … Everybody is not wired like that. Anthony Davis is not wired like that.”

Sharpe believes that there are similarities between Anthony Davis and Milwaukee Bucks talisman Giannis Antetokounmpo. However he compares the two players and comes to the conclusion that the Two time MVP is much better as he keeps on improving himself and gets better every year even after winning the Championship last season whereas nothing of that sort has been seen from AD. “He should’ve been Giannis before Giannis. Six-foot-ten, can shoot, can rebound, can play it all. … Why isn’t he? Because it doesn’t mean enough to him. That’s it,” Sharpe concluded.
