Lukaku sets new record as he continues goalscoring form for Roma

Romelu Lukaku has continued his goalscoring form for AS Roma as the Gialorossi defeated Slavia Prague 2-0 in their Europa League clash.

Roma only needed strikes from Edoardo Bove and  Lukaku to secure maximum points within 17 minutes.

Roma have won the head-to-head with Slavia Prague for the top spot in the group with a win.

Both teams had entered the tie with a perfect record, but   Prague had not conceded a single goal.

Roma needed just 43 seconds to break the deadlock. Stephan El Shaarawy won the ball and laid off for Edoardo Bove, whose stunning right-foot curler from outside the box found the far top corner to become the fastest goal in Roma’s UEFA history.

El Shaarawy was also involved in the second. The Italian striker reacted quickly to a loose ball in midfield and threaded through for Lukaku, who hammered it into the roof of the net from a tight angle with his trusty left foot.

Lukaku has now scored in his 14th consecutive Europa League appearance.

Mile Svilar produced a one-handed save on the deflected Mick van Buren effort by pushing it around the near post.

Lukaku had a chance to double his tally but drilled his effort wide of the near post, and El Shaarawy was unlucky as his curler thumped the crossbar from the edge of the box.

The hist had a chance moments later, but Ivan Schranz failed to utilize the opportunity when Vaclav Jurecka sent him through and fired over as Svilar came rushing out to narrow the angle.

With a two-goal advantage, the Giallorossi only controlled their lead in the second half, and Andrea Belotti forced a save at the near post on a long ball.

Roma hopes to take the current form into the Serie A this weekend as a trip to the San Siro awaits them against Inter Milan.
