England continued their winning start to their FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with a 2-0 win at Albania on Sunday evening.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 38 minute from a Luke Shaw assist.
Kane, then turned provider for Mason Mount in the second half, as the Three Lions followed their mid-week’s 5-0 beating of San Marino.
That puts Gareth Southgate’s men at the top of the table in Group I, followed by Poland and Hungary with four points each. Meanwhile, England faces Poland at Wembley on Wednesday.
Elsewhere, Manchester United’s forward Anthony Martial was injured in France’s 2-0 at Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
While Kylian Mbappe lost a penalty with the game at 2-0, Antoine Griezmann had a goal disallowed for offside. However Ousmane Dembele’s strike and an own goal gave the World Champions a 2-0 lead from the first half.
It is The Blues first win after a draw against Ukraine in theor first game. The Ukranians were held by Finland as Teemu Pukki scored a late penalty for Finland in the 1-1 draw.
Spain also got their first win of the qualifiers as an Dani Olmo’s screamer in the stoppage time gave Spain a 2-1 win at Georgia.
The La Roja were held by Greece mid-week, but after going behind in the first half against Georgia, Manchester City’s Ferran Torres equalized for Spain immediately after the break, before the long range effort from Olmo secured all three points.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was instrumental as Sweden beat Kosovo 3-0 providing an assist for the first goal.
Serge Gnabry scored as Germany beat Romania, and Lewandowski scored a brace as Poland defeated Andorra while Italy beat Bulgaria 2-0.
The Bulgarians lost 3-1 to Switzerland in their first game but the Swiss could only manage a 1-0 win over Lithuania.
