European champions Chelsea ignited interest in Belgium Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku they want to bring to Stamford Bridge in a bid to compete for the Premier League title next season.
Twenty-eight-year-old Romelu Lukaku left Chelsea for Everton in 2014 and has since played for Manchester United and Inter Milan where he helped the Nerazzurri to the Italian Serie A title this season with 33 goals.
Inter Milan beat AC Milan and Juventus to the title but the Belgium striker was instrumental with crucial goals.
With his contributions to the team’s Scudetto success this season, Inter Milan are, however, willing to sell the striker to ease their financial burdens.
For Chelsea, he remains the easy the most feasible recruitment upfront as the Blues aim to improve their goal-scoring record and attacking power ahead of the next season.
Lukaku joined Chelsea as an 18-year-old in 2011 and had just a single start for the Blues before going on loan to West Brom and Everton.
Chelsea has also listed Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, as well as wantaway Tottenham’s striker Harry Kane as transfer targets.
Meanwhile, reports were made on Monday that the German manager of Thomas Tuchel is close to signing a contract extension at Stamford Bridge till 2024 after leading the club to their second Champions League Victory.
Thomas Tuchel was offered an 18-month contract when he replaced former Blues midfielder Frank Lampard in January.
He joined the London club after being sacked by French side Paris Saint-Germain in December just months after leading them to their first-ever UEFA Champions League final which they lost to Bayern Munich.
However, after tasting success the German manager has revealed he wants more of it.
“It’s about the next one, it is the time to celebrate for a few days and to let it sink in. Nobody wants to rest. I want the next one and I want the next success and the next title. ” Tuchel said.
