Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta reveals taking a cue from Pep Guardiola’s Bayern with Zinchenko this season

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta made a shocking revelation about Pep Guardiola’s tactics and opened up on how he was influenced and inspired by a particular move. Arteta, who is leading Arsenal right now toward their historic Premier League title shared that he is using Oleksandr Zinchenko in midfield after taking a cue from the way Guardiola used Philipp Lahm at Bayern.

The move has paid massive dividends as Zinchenko has been sensational in the new role and Arsenal hold a healthy lead over their immediate contenders Manchester City.

It is to be noted that Arteta worked as an assistant manager under Guadiola at Manchester City and there he learned a lot from the Spaniard. Arteta later took up coaching at Arsenal in 2019 but the ideas that he took from Guardiola has remained and that’s what gave him cue to try out something else.

“It started when I was in Barcelona, we used to play a 3-4-3 diamond and one of the full-backs used to play there. But Pep did it at Bayern for the first time with Phillip Lahm and then that was developed at City with many different ways of doing it with different players,” Arteta revealed.

Arteta shares how it is wonderful in sports to take cue and evolve from different ideas from coaches even form different sports. He highlights how one needs to be very curious with an conscience to learn and evolve.

“So that is the great thing, that you can take all the time things from other sports, other coaches to make yourself better and that curiosity is necessary to evolve and be better,” the Arsenal boss added.

Arsenal and Manchester City are fighting it out for the Premier League this season. While the Gunners are at the top with an eight point lead over the Citizens. However City have a game in hand to close the gap.

Also, both the teams will face each other for one last time this season in April which could be very crucial in the context of the Premier League title.

Speaking about the end of the season preparations, Arteta highlighted that the team is focused on one game at a time and aren’t too concerned about the outcome of other teams. He wants to control the contrallables.

“I think it is going to be what we do every single day, that is going to decide our outcome, we cannot control the outcome of other clubs, what we can control is what we do every single day, how we train, how we communicate, how we behave, how is our energy,” the Spaniard concluded.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also looking at various young talents from all over the globe to improve their roster for next season. One such talent is Brazilian youngster, Vitor Roque. It is reported by Spanish outlet, SPORT that Gunners have joined Chelsea and FC Barcelona to sign the exciting Brazilian.
