The Golden State Warriors and Draymond Green are still basking in the glory of winning the NBA title. It was Green’s fourth title in his illustrious career as they have build a exceptional dynasty that headlines him, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. It has been sensational how far they have come and the way they played in the finals if they continue that there are possibilities of them winning it back against next season.
Green is fond of sharing his thoughts on his podcast and recently he shared a lot of thoughts from his Championship win as he feels now it is more about the journey to the title than the moment you win the title. The Warriors had a very young bench and green was more like their experienced senior and he shares how incredible it felt when he saw the youngsters with the trophy on stage. He reveals how the first title always remains special.
“When we won our recent championship, I don’t even think I touched the trophy on stage,” Green said,” because afterward, like, it’s not about the trophy, it’s the journey. I intentionally stood to the side, and I’m just watching guys, like, interact and, like, it’s always a big deal for me to see the first-time guys, because you win that first one, and it’s amazing,” he said on his podcast.
Immediately explaining his point, Draymond added on how the other Championships are also great but the first one leaves a strong mark on you as a player and a person. He feels then you chase for journeys than trophies. That is something that motivates him to keep going and winning titles. “And then every one after that, they are incredible, but you never get that feeling again that you got the very first time. … It’s not ‘Oh, man, I need to get another championship. It’s ‘I need another championship journey.’ That’s what keeps you going,” Green added.
The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 4-2 in the NBA finals to win the title last season. The Warriors and Green did not have the best of start as the Celtics took one game from the first two despite the Warriors having home court advantage. But things started changing drastically when Stephen Curry and Draymond Green got in the groove. Curry was doing well from the first game itself but with green coming in and putting up stellar performances, helped Steve Kerr’s side a lot in clinching another Championship.
