The risk is so high – Dr. Brian Sutterer on Bronny James’ future after cardiac arrest

LeBron James’ son Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest in the USC practice. Fortunately, as per the latest reports, Bronny James is in a stable condition after receiving treatment and he is no longer in the ICU. However, after the cardiac arrest, many think that James’ return to the game will be a difficult one.

In the past, LeBron James had expressed his desire to play alongside his son, Bronny James in the NBA and his dreams suffered a huge dent on Tuesday.

Doctor Brian Sutterer, who is known to analyze players’ injuries on his YouTube Channel, said the youngster’s return might not be safe.

“There are some causes of cardiac arrest that you find the exact cause, and it still isn’t necessarily safe to return to sports because the risk is so high of having another cardiac arrest and potentially dying,” Sutterer said.

“Some of these conditions, like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or the anomalous coronary arteries like we saw Sharif O’Neill have, can be treated or repaired best you can with surgical intervention, but obviously that’s going to put Bronny out of playing for a really long time.”

Sutterer continued, “If they don’t find an exact cause and you don’t really know what happened. And you have to have that discussion of what exactly are the risks of going back out there and playing. Extremely serious situation we’re dealing with, then legitimately something that affects the rest of his career depending on what we discover and depending on what they have to do about it…My thoughts go out to Bronny and the rest of his family. Thankfully they had good medical staff that were able to save his life.”

As Bronny James is set to begin his recovery, there are chances that LeBron James could miss training sessions with the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James had earlier said that he would want to play his last season in the NBA with his son, Bronny.

“I have a goal that, if it’s possible — I don’t even know if it’s possible — that if I can play with my son, I would love to do that,” said James in the previous season.

“Is that, like, something that any man shouldn’t want in life? That’s like the coolest thing that could possibly happen. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to be with this franchise.”
