Marc Spears believes Chris Paul will start for the Golden State Warriors alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson

Ever since the Golden State Warriors acquired Chris Paul, there have been a lot of questions and excitement around the point guard playing with Stephen Curry in the same starting five. While some people believe that Paul will lead the bench unit, others feel that Steve Kerr will integrate Curry and Paul together into the starting lineup.

Paul has been a starter throughout his career but with the Warriors he may come off the bench. However in a recent interaction on Yahoo’s Ball Don’t Lie, Marc Spears shared that he has heard rumours of Paul starting for the Warriors atleast for the start of the season.

It will be interesting to see how Steve Kerr manages the resources that he has at hand. A lineup with Paul, Curry and Klay Thompson will be extremely one-dimensional.

“I do expect him to start. And I think it’s like five-minute spurts,” Spears said. “I don’t know that they really want his minutes to be high, but I think they’re gonna try it.

“I could be wrong, but that’s the jist I’m getting. This isn’t an opinion, that he’s expected to start. He’s never not started in his career,” he added.

While it can be debated where he deserves to start of come off the bench to provide more balance. Everyone can agree that Paul’s inclusion in this team will surely help the Warriors. Spears shared his thoughts on the acquisition and feels that it will elevate the Warriors to the next level.

“I’m gonna put some respect on his name. Chris Paul is a future Hall of Famer. His basketball IQ is among the greatest of all time, if not the greatest.”

He also highlights how Paul and Draymond Green will collectively increase the basketball IQ of this team as he won’t be carrying this team, he will be just complementing the other players. “You put him and Draymond [Green] on the floor together, IQ-wise, and it’s not like he has to carry the team, he has to complement the team. I think he can do really well there.”

The Warriors are going small ball this season as they don’t have a proper big. Their tallest player this time is Dario Saric and rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis. However, it might be their way to success this time.
