Los Angeles Lakers veteran LeBron James has revealed he will contemplate retirement this offseason. James and Co. season ended after they were knocked out by Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference finals.
The Lakers were beaten by 113-111 in the fourth game of the series as the Nuggets went on to clean sweep them by 4-0. In fact, the Lakers had a 13-point lead after the first half but they squandered the same as the Nuggets took the third quarter by 36-16.
Meanwhile, James completed his 20th NBA season and also leapfrogged legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s tally of most points in the NBA. James also completed 8000 playoff points on Monday when he top-scored with 40 points for his team but efforts went in vain.
James told reporters in the news conference after the loss, “Going forward with the game of basketball, I’ve got a lot to think about.”
After the news conference, James told ESPN that this could be it for him in the NBA.
When you say you got to think about stuff, what thread should we be pulling on that?
“If I want to continue to play,” James said.
As in next year?
“Yeah.”
You would walk away?
“I got to think about it.”
Meanwhile, James played in all 17 post-season matches for the Lakers as he once again proved his fitness despite being 38. After suffering a foot injury, James was still confident of going all the way this season.
“I knew I could get to the finish line,” James told ESPN. “Obviously, I knew I had to deal with it and deal with the pain or deal with not being able to be myself before the injury, but there was nothing that made me feel like I couldn’t get to the finish line.”
