Lakers coach Darvin Ham provides updates on superstar Anthony Davis’ nagging hip injury

 

Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis cannot catch a break with his injury issues. He has been recently dealing with a hip injury this season which has got everyone worried. According to the player, his hip has been alright in the recent weeks but it flared up during their 127-15 defeat against the Dallas Mavericks.

Davis has not allowed down due to his hip issue as he has now played 16 straight games. Also, he has been very active in the NBA this season, registering 849 minutes, the third-most total minutes for any player this season, excluding the NBA In-season tournament finals.

Although the Lakers lost the game against the Mavericks, Davis finished with a game-high 37 points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks at 74.1% shooting. However, during the match, Davis experienced some issues with his hip.

Speaking on the issue after the game, Davis suggested that he would take a day-by-day approach deciding to take any step further on his hip injury. “We’ll see how it feels,” Davis said. “Went to test it out pregame and it felt good. There were some moments in the game where I felt it. Kind of tweaked it again, but we’ve just got to see how it feels moving forward. Each and every game, take it a day at a time and then we’ll make decisions from there.”

Meanwhile, Lakers coach Darvin Ham suggested how Davis wants to be available for the team moving forward. It is too early to say if the big man will miss any game or not due to his hip issue. Ham suggested that the superstar is leaving no stone unturned to keep himself available for the Lakers.

Davis has been sensational for his team this season. Through the 24 games this season, Davis has averaged 24.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.8 blocks on 55.1% shooting.

Unfortunately, the Lakers lost to the Mavericks in their last game, ending their three-game winning streak. The Lakers trailed by as many as 15 points before overturning the game in the fourth quarter. But they couldn’t hold on to the lead as the Mavericks edged out the Lakers to win the game.

The Mavericks were led by their superstar Luka Doncic, who finished the night with 33 points, six rebounds 17 assists, and three 3-pointers on 42.9% shooting. Meanwhile, Tim Hardaway Jr. came up with his career-best 32 points and five 3-pointers on 47.6% shooting.

The Lakers ended their three-match winning streak while the Mavericks registered their fourth straight win. Darvin Ham’s men will feature against the San Antonio Spurs next on the road while Dallas will next host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
