Kevin Garnett speaks very highly of Anthony Edwards following his performances for the USA at the 2023 FIBA World Cup

Team USA fell short at the 2023 FIBA World Cup as they finished fourth and could not even get their hands on the bronze medal at the prestigious event. However, their best player was Anthony Edwards who turned up in most matches and delivered some praiseworthy performances.

He was the team’s main scorer appointed by the coach Steve Kerr and he delivered on his role and with global success albeit individual, Edwards has attracted the interest of the basketball world which will eventually increase his value in the NBA.

Former Boston Celtics superstar Kevin Garnett recently shared his thoughts on the Minnesota Timberwolves star and feels that he is destined for greatness in the NBA. Garnett was heavily impressed with the youngster’s performances at the World Cup.

He even suggested that if Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns can co-exist at Minnesota Timberwolves then they can be the two faces of the team and can also dominate the league for a prolonged period of time.

“What I saw in Anthony Edwards, he’s on his way bro. He’s playing with that different energy too. When we get into the season this year, I’m looking for him to have a big year just off how he looked this summer,” Garnett said on his podcast KG certified.

He wants Edwards and Towns to come together and work in tandem for the betterment of Minnesota in the upcoming seasons. He believes that they can be the faces of the franchise if they put their mind around the idea.

“He has too big of a personality to be Robin. It’s time for them [Edwards and Towns] to come together and be that one. It’s about them going forward together. They both are the faces of the franchise. Bro best thing for them now, get together, say ‘This is what we on’, let them two initiate it and go. They got something there dawg,” he added.

Karl-Anthony Towns also featured at the FIBA World Cup and did well for his nation just like Minnesota teammate Anthony Edwards. Both the players saw their teams get knocked out and that does not mean anything alarming as they earned some valuable gametime and experience ahead of the new season. They also got experience in the international level tournament and will be better versions of themselves when the new NBA season starts.

Together they can elevate the level of Minnesota Timberwolves in the coming years. They can sure be a team that can turn into a force to be reckoned with.
