Kevin Garnett feels black coaches in the NBA get shorter ropes than others following Adrian Griffin’s dismissal

The Milwaukee Bucks are second in the Eastern Conference with a decent record of 30-13, but they still fired their coach Adrian Griffin. Their decision to sack him caught many people off guard in the NBA fraternity. Several NBA personalities have spoken on this matter.

Among many NBA personalities, former Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett shared his thoughts on the matter on his Instagram story. Garnett was disappointed with the sacking and he shared how Black coaches aren’t getting the longer rope. He wants to indicate that there are disparities among other coaches who are not black.

“I’ve seen other coaches go a whole 2 years of losing and keep their jobs or got promoted!! Some BS!! Real talk!!” Garnett said in his IG story. “Black coaches got little rope to work with than any other of all coaches!! Just saying it’s the way it looks.. just saying.”

Closing his post, Garnett also shared a few motivational words for Griffin to hold his head high following the sack. “Hold your head AG.. other opportunities out here!!”

Just after sacking Griffin, the Bucks made the headlines by appointing ESPN broadcaster Doc Rivers as their new coach. NBA on TNT reported the news as Shaquille O’Neal, Candace Parker, Adam Lefkoe and Jamal Crawford revealed that Rivers has become the new Bucks coach.

However, once the dust had settled and the things eased out the report turned out to be fake. Bucks assistant coach Joe Prunty has been named as the team’s interim head coach.
While reports of Rivers joining the Bucks were strongly refuted, there’s more brewing between the two parties.

As per several reports, the Bucks are interested in making Rivers their new head coach but the two parties are yet to reach a final agreement.

Rivers is someone who comes with a massive resume and has been coaching since the 1999-2000 season. The veteran has a record of 1097-763 and was named the Coach of the Year in 2000. He also guided the Boston Celtics to their historic NBA Championship in 2008.

The veteran coach was also named as among the top 15 coaches in NBA history alongside legends like Phil Jackson, Red Auerbach and Jerry Sloan among others.

If the move happens, it will be interesting to see how Rivers manages the Bucks’ star-studded lineup and how he improves their defensive rating which has been the primary problem for them.
