LA Lakers superstar LeBron James made a resounding comeback against New York Knicks after missing the previous five matches due to a knee injury. James had a triple-double of 29 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists to once again deliver the goods for his team and led his side to a 122-115 win in Overtime on Saturday night.
James had missed the last five matches due to swelling in his left knee but he was able to deliver for the team. The linchpin was delighted to be back on the court and was happy with his game.
“After the first quarter, the knee loosened up a lot more,” James said after accompanying the points with 13 rebounds and 10 assists to notch his 103rd career triple-double. “My mind loosened up a lot more. And I was just able to play basketball. But just excited to be back in the uniform, back on the floor with my guys. Missed them, missed the game. I was happy I was able to make a few plays and help us win a ballgame.”
Meanwhile, James’ absence in the last five matches was clearly felt as the Lakers went 1-4 without him.
On the other hand, Anthony Davis scored 28 points and 17 rebounds while Malik Monk dropped off 29 points for the Lakers.
The team’s head coach Frank Vogel showered praise on LeBron James for his complete performance on the comeback.
“He’s incredible. I guess the time off served him well,” coach Frank Vogel said. “We didn’t want to play him 39 minutes, but over time impacted that. “He was special tonight. Just a great performance.”
In fact, the Lakers were trailing by 21 points at one stage in the second quarter but bounced back in style in the next two quarters. LA Lakers will look to build on this win and they will next face Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.
