Golden State Warriors had a comfortable lead of 18 points after the first half as they scored 89 points in the first two quarters against the Sacramento Kings. It looked like the match was done and dusted but Sacramento Kings made a valiant effort to bounce back in the next two quarters.
The Dubs went on to eventually win by 130-125 but there were some nervous moments on the court for the defending champions.
Steph Curry was at his best once again as he scored 33 points, 28 of which came in the first half. Curry admitted that its really hard to win in this league and no lead is safe in the tournament.
“Honestly, right now, it doesn’t feel that good just ‘cause we got a lot of guys taking the court early in the season trying to build chemistry and experience and reps. These are some tough lessons.
“It’s really hard to win in this league. No lead is safe, it’s a game of runs, we all know that. … To really take pride in every minute you have out there, that’s a lesson we need to learn tonight moving forward.”
On the other hand, GSW head coach Steve Kerr reckons the match got closer than it should have but at the same time he gave credit to the opposition for bouncing back into the contest.
“We played at times brilliantly and we couldn’t sustain it,” coach Steve Kerr said. “It was closer than it should have been, but I give Sacramento a lot of credit. Mike’s doing a great job with those guys. They’re fighting, they’re competing. They’ve had three close losses now to start the year. … We let our guard down and they took advantage of it.”
This was GSW’s second win of the season and they were beaten by Denver Nuggets. GSW will next take on Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.
