Former NBA Champion Richard Jefferson lauds Memphis Grizzlies talisman Ja Morant

The current NBA season has been filled with surprises and one such surprise has to be the rise of the Memphis Grizzlies. A major part of their success has to be credited to their young talisman Ja Morant who has been sensational for the Grizzlies this season and has emerged as one of the best players in the league.

Only in his third NBA season, Morant has been named in the All-Star starter and is already scaling the heights in the NBA. His exceptional form has been praised by many fans, critics and former players. Recently former NBA Champion Richard Jefferson lauded the young sensation and believes that the Grizzlies are a real deal this season.

The Grizzlies hold the third-best record in the current NBA season and with every passing game, they are looking to improve their record. While they still have a great roster even without Morant and they have already proven that it is not only about Morant. But the 22-year-old star is surely the extra factor in this team that helps them overcome some of the biggest challenges this season.

Recently on the NBA countdown, Jefferson highlighted Ja Morant’s dominance on the court this season. He then went on to compare Morant’s numbers with Lebron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic etc. He believes that if the 22-year-old continues to lead this team in crunch matches then the Grizzlies do have a chance to win the NBA Championship.

Jefferson said: “Ja Morant is that dude. He is their leader, But make no mistake, this team won a ton of games when he was out. That’s not a knock on Ja Morant, that just shows that this organization is run right, that this group around him competes at an extremely high level. And when you add him, that’s when you start getting what he’s talking about, a contender.”

Morant has been flamboyant with his games recently as he is oozing with confidence. His form has been exceptional even during the initial part of the season but as he delivered top performances the nerves got settled and now it is more about enjoying the job the hand than rather pushing yourself. It is sensational how Morant has scored 30+ points in all of his last seven games. He has been sensational with his scoring and also playmaking and is justifying the All-Star starter tag.
