Former Boston Celtics man Kendrick Perkins who won the NBA Championship with the franchise has made some comments about Lakers talisman Anthony Davis after their match against the Sacramento Kings. Perkins also believes that Davis relies too much on his athleticism rather than sharpening his other skills.
Anthony Davis is one of the leading stars in the NBA and the comments most probably did not sit well with the Lakers center. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to the comments and how it affects his relationship with Perkins.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been far from their best, the Purple and Gold army are five and seven without their talisman, LeBron James. With the King, they averaged seven more points per game. LeBron’s absence has changed a lot of factors for the Lakers and it is pretty evident with the result and their style of play.
After the match against the Sacramento Kings, Davis communicated about their weaknesses in this team in the post-match interview. he said, “We just say we can’t catch a break, he’s out! How many days? We don’t know, it was all depending on the situation, but you still got to find ways to win.”
After the game, there was discussions around the Lakers roster at the NBA Today. Different experts had their say as most of them were not happy with how the Lakers fared against the Kings. Richard Jefferson pointed out how the journey will only get tougher from here for the Purple and Gold army. “They have the hardest schedule left to go in the NBA,” said Jefferson.
Kendrick Perkins was not happy with how Anthony Davis performed for the Lakers on an important night. “Anthony Davis is not the best player on the Los Angeles Lakers, ” Perkins stated.
AD clearly struggled in the first half against the Sacramento Kings and Perkins feels that Davis needs to be more dominant. Especially when talisman LeBron James is not available for the Lakers. With the Los Angeles Lakers aiming to win the NBA Championship, Davis needs to step up more especially in absence of his senior teammates.
