Boston Celtics star Marcus Smart shares his experience of going up against Brooklyn Nets talisman Kevin Durant

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has been one of the biggest names in the NBA for some time now. There are many matches to prove his greatness for the different teams he has featured till now in his career. Durant’s attitude changes immediately when he steps on the court as he wants to leave the arena only after winning the game.

It is not easy to go up against someone like Durantula, players over the years have shared their experience of how difficult it was for them to face the Nets’ star. The recent player to comment on Durant was Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart.

An interview with “The Old Man & The Three” was recorded in Boston. There a number of topics were discussed about Marcus Smart and his early days in the sport. The interview went places as the Celtics guard even discussed trade rumours. He also spoke about going up against NBA title favourites Brooklyn Nets and their talisman Kevin Durant. The conversation went on and the discussion continued about his relationship with teammates and pertaining to his NBA career.

Smart was bold enough to comment that it was hard for him to defend Durant. He highlights Durantula’s attitude to be the game-changer when players go up against him.

Explaining his experience of facing Durant, Smart shared a lot about his and the Brooklyn Nets’ star’s attitude on the court. When asked about the player he did not enjoying facing Smart stated, “Oh yeah, there’s a couple of guys, I mean umm you know for me KD. He talks a lot of shit, so it’s like you know and he is one of the best to do it on his end, I’m one of the best to do it on my end. So it’s like we’re bumping heads, but it’s like God Damn, he got like five feet on me, What Am I supposed to do? You know so, but know you love those types of battles.”

On court battles and tussles are pretty common nowadays given the intensity at which the players need to perform. But it is that mutual respect that Smart showed towards someone like Kevin Durant is a learning for the youngsters in the NBA.

Boston Celtics are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference and were going through a nine-game winning streak before it was snapped recently against the Detroit Pistons. The Celtics lost 111-112, a game where Smart was out with a sprained ankle that he picked up in their win against the Philadelphia 76ers.
